Line 4 (Yellow) is one of the six lines that make up the São Paulo Metro system and one of the thirteen lines that form the city’s Metropolitan Transport Network. This line runs from Luz station to Vila Sônia station, covering a total of 11 stations over a distance of 12.8 km and carrying around 800,000 passengers a day.
It opened in 2010 and stands out as the first metro line in Latin America to use driverless trains. It is also the first line in the São Paulo network to be operated by a private company.
The initial opening took place on 25 May 2010, covering the section between Faria Lima and Paulista stations. By 4 April 2018, the line had nine stations in operation, running from Butantã to Luz. Services run daily from 4h40 to midnight.
The line is expected to be fully completed in 2019 with the completion of Vila Sônia station. The line is run by the private company ViaQuatro, part of the CCR group, through a 30-year public-private concession contract. The line was originally called the Southeast-South-West Line.
